About Us
Located in beautiful Juneau, Alaska, Capital City Judo is home to multiple state and national champions. Our students have learned to use the disciplines of Judo to perfect themselves, to cultivate trust and respect for others, and to become a value to society. We pride ourselves in serving the community with a means for families and individuals to enjoy Judo as an organized sport or recreational activity.

Thanks to our dedicated instructors, who are all volunteers who donate their time and efforts, we are able to provide quality instruction in the art and sport of Judo at a minimum fee to students of all ages. .

Capital City Judo is dedicated to fostering amateur judo participation, and educating its members about the martial art of Judo in and around Juneau, AK. We strive to provide an affordable opportunity to learn Judo.

Juneau Judo is a welcoming place to learn throws, pins, movement, and self-discipline. Our classes are structured, supportive, and suitable for beginners as well as experienced judoka.

Judo is more than a sport. Through safe practice and steady effort, students learn to respect partners, stay calm under pressure, and grow stronger together.

Ukemi

Breakfalls and safe movement. Every class begins with the skills that help students train confidently and protect their partners.

Throwing techniques developed through balance, timing, gripping, and controlled repetition.

Groundwork fundamentals including pins, escapes, transitions, and positional awareness.

Randori

Live practice with clear boundaries, good etiquette, and an emphasis on learning—not winning at all costs.

A typical class includes warm-up, ukemi, technique instruction, partner drills, and randori.
